Grace was sore for a couple of days after having her g tube changed for the Mic-Key. I think alot of it was psycological because I had to actually put the tube in. Within a few days, she was fine with it. As far as swimming is concerned, I would ask your doctor. My GI says everyone has different opinons on that one. I do not think anything can get into it, because they usually have a cap over the opening. My GI says it is fine to swim. But, I do know that the chlorine can break the material down faster. The only downside is that you may have to change it more often in the summer. We have not had her's in the summer yet, so I cannot tell you from experience. I do know that I am going to let her swim, and I doubt I will do anything to it. Best of luck, hopefully he will heal really quick from it. I am sure you will both love it very soon.

Thanks everyone,

All your answers were quite helpful. Asher will be swimming tomorrow (we live in Florida!) and I'm hoping that by tomorrow it won't be so uncomfortable.

Thanks again,

Anne R

> Anne R,

It might just be sore from the manipulation of having just put it

in. They had to measure and play with the area when had hers

done and it was sore for a couple of days. Is there scar tissue?

Water does not seep in and nothing much should seep out. You can

bathe and swim and we never cover it. Maybe others have had other

experiences. I was never told to do anything with it at all.

I hope he feels better and it works well for you,

Dawn

Every once in a while Asenath's is sore too. Not sure why as there is no granulation tissue left. It has been totally healed for quite a while now. We don't use gauze very often any more unless Asenath specifically asks for it. We have never had any problems with swimming either We do not cover it and none of Asenath's doctors have ever cautioned us about bathing or swimming. Darla: mommy to Asenath, Zipporrah, and the gang Re: Mic-Key and ? Grace was sore for a couple of days after having her g tube changed for the Mic-Key. our daughters mic-key is always sensitive but clear all around it we have seen the surgen for it but they said some kids are just more sensitive and if it looks good not to worry We swim all summer in the lake we never cover it and have never had a problem We do use tegaderm to tape the extention to her so it does not pull when she moves we just leave it connected and close the extenion off and disconnect the bag when the pump is off good luck hopes this helps cyndi Mic-Key and ?
