Hi,

I need help with this. Asher was put on oral steroids b/c of wheezing on Tuesday. Yesterday, his cheeks began to be really red. He's not running a fever, not sweaty, and his cheeks don't feel chapped.

Is this a side effect of oral steroids? Are oral steroids safe for mito kids?

Also, I didn't realize skin pallor was a sx of mito until a I read about it on a web page. Is this true for you all? Asher's skin is always very pale (until today).

> Anne R,

I am sure that it probably is due to the steroid use. gets

red cheeks, when she is tired, sick, hot- basically every day for

one reason or another. It is the dysautonomic dysfunction I think.

My other kids (still undiagnosed) get them too. I have dysautonomia,

but do not get them, why I don't kow?

Is Asher feeling better?

Dawn

Hi

My son Colby gets red cheeks from steroids. He also gets them just out of the blue sometimes. His cheeks will get very red and hot. The neuro said it was called dysautanomia, inability to regulate temperature. I will put a cool, moist cloth on his cheeks for awhile. Hope this helps. Colby has been on steroids all of his life. They can have some bad side affects, but your DR will take care of you.Take Care
