Sorry...I know this has been posted before but I couldn't find it in

the archives...how long does the second pysch eval take? My first was

15 minutes, but I'm guessing this one will be longer. Is it an hour?

Just trying to figure out if I will go to work afterwards.

I think it just depends upon how much you need to talk/ This is YOUR time, too...not just a formality. You can address fears or concerns or whatever...and talk it out. LLLORY@... wrote:

Hmmm...when my PCP referred me to the Bariatric program he mentioned

the Pysch clearance or whatever you want to call it. So I decided

to get that out of the way while waiting to hear of my acceptance to

the program. Now I'm thinking do I have to do it again with someone

hey assign to me? I basically got the okay from the Kaiser Redwood

City Pysch Dept. During the orientation they didn't mention

anything about getting a pysch eval at all. Is it mandatory thing

for everyone?

Also, how many times are we required to meet with a nurtitionist?

Do we go as needed (after the initial one) or is it a series of

meetings with Beth?

No, it's only mandatory for ...because he's crazy. Hee hee.

The reality is that some of the bariatric departments have just recently employed their own psychiatrists. I don't think it's a "clearance" in the same sense that the earlier psych eval was...rather, it is just a check in to get a reading on how you are doing with the whole decision train going out of the station.

As for nutrition, there is a mandatory class, at least in Richmond, that they will schedule you for...similar to the orientation.

I dont know the answer, i was not required to have a psych eval prior to my surgery. I went through SSF.................the way the sacramento clinic i went to put it was like this, if you already had a pscyh dr they would look for an approval from that doctor, if you had not been seeing a pscych dr and your pcp felt you were understanding of the procedure they just omitted that part of it

good luck

I never had a pysch eval (through Richmond). I thought for sure I

was going to have to have one but my pre-approval class counted as a

pysch eval (just a questionnaire you filled out and the pysch person

read through). Worked for me!
