Guest guest
Unless they tested her for an allergy I would guess it is a mito type thing. Up until a few months ago Gracie could not handle anything with any type of fruit or milk in it, she too was on Soy. They tested her for allergies and they were negative. Eventually after being on the cocktail for awhile, we went out on a whim and tried the milk. Success. A few months later she was constipated so I tried to give her a candy fruit snack (this usually was enough to get her going) to my surprise she was fine, and actually liked it. Now we are slowly trying to add some fruits to her diet. I would bring this up with her doctor, and probably avoid the milk until you know for sure what's going on. Best of luck. Guest guest
Tina, Molly (my youngest, not yet diagnosed) had allergies to milk since birth too. She started soy formula in the hospital and did great. We put her on milk (doctor's suggestion) at 11 mo. She did fine- no allergy sx or vomiting. Well, she has never had a normal bm in her whole life. I finally took her to a GI and she tested positive for sensitivities to milk, wheat, peanut and egg. We have taken her off of all of these things. We were told to do this for a yr. and then we will try to reintroduce them one at a time next yr. You can tell if she has only the slightest bite of one of these- diarrhea the next day. The doctor told me if a child avoids a food they probably know it will not make thewm feel good. I would try to remove it again and see if the symptoms get better. Is it mito, I don't know. Good Luck, Dawn

Guest guest
Tina, this sounds like lactose intolerance. Lactose is a sugar in milk and most humans lack the digestive enzyme to digest it, causing diarrhea and /or loose bm's. Soured dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and sour cream have all been thru a fermantation process in which the lactate is used up or converted, so are ok for lactose intolerant people to eat. You can purchase Lactaid from most stores, this is the digestive enzyme needed to digest lactose and should be taken with milk, ice cream, etc. HTH. e, Chelsea's mom (nonspecific mito)
