Guest guest
Well – it’s all done – our almost 2 year journey with cochlear implants came to an end on Monday when Dr. Miyamoto took ’s implant out. The surgery went well and there was no complications. HOWEVER, after surgery was given a pain medication which stopped his breathing. He went without breathing for 2 minutes. He was resuscitated and went well until the MRI. resisted the chorohydrate and the MRI had to be scrubbed. His breathing was erratic and the doctors wanted to keep him overnight for observation. We were scheduled for a second try at the MRI on Tuesday evening. He did well and was released late that night. HOWERVER, early the next morning he was vomiting uncontrollably, so it was back to the hospital for another 2 days. He is stable now and we got to bring him home this evening. The hospital sent his internal device back to the company for further testing to determine if there was a “soft” failure. I was told that this was unlikely and that all of our problems stem from ’s disease. The implant testing will take around 3 months but we will get the MRI & MRS results tomorrow. Thanks to all who have kept us in their prayers, Sue Ann Bube President, UMDF Indiana
