Very good points, Tommi. But people see his disability and accuse of

exploiting that.

I think I need to think about what is best for Boone and not what people

think.

Boone has a talent, I would share it with the world. It's not like you

chain the boy up and command him to draw clocks all day! And if it

increases autism awareness, so much the better. I think it is important for

the " rest of the world " to realize that there is a place for autistic

individuals to contribute and participate in society. And Boone's work is

amazing. It is fabulous modern art, and for me, represents all that is good

about the autistic mind - - that amidst the chaos, is order, elegence, and

great beauty. It is extra special since we share the ASD journey.

I would go with all the above.

I would also make it a point to let people know that all money from selling

these things would go into a fund for him to help take care of him.

Georga,

I think it would be very important to stress that -- for the critics -- that

I would set up a trust fund or something along those lines.

The thing that has always TERRIFIED me about autism is how you basically

have to turn your kid over to the state once they become adults. That is, if

they are to receive benefits. It would be so cool if Boone could be

independent. I know I'd be much happier with that possibility.

Are you a member of that forum?

If you are why don't you get involved in the discussion?

Prints yes. Nice limited edition lithos. A book, also yes. Actual

clocks..hmm...one of a kind or multiple copies of selected ones? And

how would Boone feel about that? The clocks could end up selling for

large sums which could be set up in an account for Boone. And as for

those that say you are taking advantage of him, why shouldn't Boone be

able to sell his art like any other person?

*THAT* right there would be the motivation for selling his stuff. To make

things better for him

You know, with a book you could do a forward explaining so much about autism

and these sorts of things....

A book. Definatly a book ;0)

All three, but I'm biased. I love his clocks, and I'd buy them in a

heartbeat....a Boone clock to replace the boring one I already have,

prints for my kitchen and bedrooms, and books for Christmas gifts. And

it's not exploitation. It's a way for Boone to earn money. I thought

this country loved six year old entrepeneurs?

This is pretty much what I would have advised, Sissi...you might

really want to read " Exiting Nirvana " ---the mom there goes into how

much her daughter enjoy having an income that she knows she has

earned, and how it impacts her self-esteem...and also shows that the

mom understands the importance of not exploiting her child. You

might even contact the author and see if she has any advice on the

best ways to handle it all...

That scares me, too...because will most certainly not be able

to support or care for himself as an adult. Unfortunately, he

doesn't seem to have any " exploitable " talents...LOL...so I'm looking

for ways to become independently wealthy (ideas, anyone?).

One of the challenging things about the internet is that it makes

complete strangers believe that they have the right to comment on the

lives and choices of others...informed or not. I would try not to

let it get to me.

> Are you a member of that forum?

No. I never even heard of Gibson or his books until it came up on

counter report. I like to keep track of who's linking to Boone's web page.

> If you are why don't you get involved in the discussion?

I'm not sure what I'd say to them or how they'd react. I did join a

discussion once before about Boone on another board. They attacked me.

Forget that!

Good question.

People just have these opinions based on their limited knowledge of a

subject.

They attacked you?? How dare they!! How awful..I, to, would be

hesitant to go back.

I am so sorry for people's insensitivity.

I am mentally kicking them all in the shins.

My limited knowledge on the subject tells me that if given a chance Boone

would give away his pictures if he understood that it would make people

happy and he wanted to do that. ;0)
