Guest guest
For some of you this will be old news, but for most of you it is new. I have been working with my local state senator on the development of a Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week. I am happy to announce that currently the NJ Legislature is working on a resolution declaring the Week of May 10th - 16th as Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week. I do not have information as yet on when the resolution will be signed, however, I am encouraging all New Jerseyans to assist the cause in their area. Right now, I am looking to set up information tables at two local hospitals, contact the local newspaper and TV stations and would like to distribute green ribbons to everyone we know. In addition, some of our local businesses and a local church have committed to make contributions to the UMDF during this week. Since we are in South Jersey, I am encouraging all other Jerseyans to join in. If you are in Jersey and would like to brainstorm on ideas, please feel free to email me privately. Guest guest
Laurel: How did you go about doing this? It would be neat to have several states do this during the week of May 10th - 16th. How did you decide to do this? I would like to contact our legislators here in Wisconsin as there are several kids here and several doctors who are familiar with this disease. You could email me privately and help me out here as to how to pursue this with our state government here in Wisconsin.
