Guest guest
I don’t have any advice except that it sounds like a possible yeast infection which is common in girls at this age from hygiene habits or taking antibiotics. Samya always had redness in that area on and off. I used to have her soak in clean water before her bath (no soap_ before her bath and would apply lotrimin cream (antifungal) after each bathroom use and before bed for several day until it cleared up. I do not know if it is mito related. I think mito children in general have sensitive skin and get irritation more because of their disorder. Samya had massive rashes as a baby to the point where they would bleed and massive redness and discomfort as she got older in her vagina area. It used to break my heart because it was so often I used to carry Lotrimin in my purse. Leanna does not have that specific problem but she has keratosis on her skin since birth and I believe that is mito related also. Good luck, Suhad Haddad -- Mom to Samya (Died 12-10-02 of Leigh's Synd.) & Leanna with same disease. Samya's Memorial Site: www.Samya.org Email: Suhad1970@... Alt Email: Suhad@... Madison has been red there for the past month and we have been using the cream the dr gave. Well tonight while putting the cream on there seems to be a white discharge w/ a smell. She is 5 and has never had a problem w/ this until recently. I was wondering if there could be something in her urine mito related and she is not wiping enough and that is causing the redness. It probaly has nothing to do w/ mito but I just thought I would ask. I know I can come here to the pros. I almost feel I get more answers from all of you than the docs! I will call the dr tomorrow and see what they say. Take care~Kim Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
