Good question! Problem is I do not know either. Dr. Cohen has told us that there is high evidence of a depletion syndrome in Gracies liver. We are still waiting on the results from the EM on her liver to prove this theory. From what I do kinda know I guess it's almost like an auto immune disease in the mitochondria. We were told that they are suspicious about this due to lack of cristae, umdf site explains the cristae better than I ever could. Other than that I am pretty oblivious about this. He did tell us that he does not think Grace will die from this, he is also pretty confident she will avoid a liver transplant. He usually will not say something unless he is very confident. I think Dr. Cohen will be online sometime soon with the mda chat, he would be a great person to ask about this. If you do find something out, please post it. I would love to find this out too.

Thanks so much for replying to my post . Thanks also for

sharing what you know about it already. I just can't wait to see an

MDA Dr. about this, I'll have to bring a tape recorder because I

can't write fast enough and I've got a ton of questions for him

regarding the DX. My next stop is to UDMF.org looking for

Cristae. Thanks again!!! eileen phelps
