Guest guest Posted February 20, 2004 Report Share Posted February 20, 2004 , Caden takes Pancrecarb MS4. 1-2 w/snacks and 2-3 w/meals. He is only 38. 5 lbs. Well, he's made it to 39lbs now! Is there a difference in the make up of the enzymes? Pancrecarb MS 4 contains Lipase 4,000, Amylase 25,000, Protease 25,000. Right now we are breaking them open and putting the beads in applesauce because he can't swallow the capsule. I can't wait till he can! It's very time consuming. I had been thinking and wondering why on Earth you couldn't get this in liquid or have something like an Insulin pump...only with enzymes... Well, duhhhhhhh.. It just hit me, that the enzymes are designed in these beads to NOT open until in the intestines, right. It has to be in a certain PH to activate them. Nothing is simple. Aren't they derrived from Pigs? Just like insulin is made from pork or beef?? Weird to think they are using a product from a pigs pancreas to aid in a humans. I mean it always made more sense to me with insulin but enzymes for digestion in the intestines, the beads, and all of that..is just weird to me. Science sure has come a long way and I am very thankful! How old is your son & what is his weight. I am told that they start you out on a lower dose and work you up. Did your kids do this? Also, how were your kids diagnosed? and how did you know at birth your son had panc. insf? Thanks for sharing with me!
