Guest guest Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 I live just a short 4 hr drive north of San Francisco. For those of us that live in No. Ca-- once you're south of Sacramento-- you're in the "cities." We like our smallness up here. LOL! I've only been down in the city a half dozen times or so-- but it is fascinating. The different cultures and lifestyles are an education in themself. Yep, you can make a better living "down south"-- but the mountain air, the woodsmoke, the rice fields burning-- and sitting lakeside at sunset-- that makes it all worthwhile. Blessings, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator Quote

Guest guest Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 There are rice fields in your area? My sons took a trip in the winter for a few days, going up north towards Eureka and found lakes with geese in them, just like the movies. I plan on doing it this summer. I've never been to Yosemite, or north and want to do it this summer. Guest guest Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 Pomy, what does your signature mean? Do you use a voice recognition program? I've also been meaning to ask you how long you've been in California. Weren't you over in Israel awhile back, or am I getting people mixed up again? Nosy Rosy Quote

Guest guest Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 There are rice fields in your area Sure are! This area of Northern California is where 80% of all the rice is grown-- it is incredible. Lundberg Farms-- which has the best selections of organic rices (some are so so good) is just 1/2 hour away. They own thousands of acres of rice land. The ducks and geese and cranes are incredible--they just spend the entire winter feeding in the fields. It is so awesome to go and watch them. We're also huge on English Walnuts, Almonds and fruit. This is the most fertile part of the Sacramento Valley. We sit above the valley, in the foothills, and my drive down into Chico is about a half hour trip. We're 5 hours away from Yosemite-- that is beautiful country-- but too many people for me. I am so spoiled, we're only 20 minutes away from the Feather River Canyon, and that is every bit as beautiful--and it's only a couple of hours up Hwy 70 to Gold Lakes Basin--and the base of the Sierra's. Take care, Tracie Quote
Guest guest Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Oh Tracie, you made my mouth water, not for food but to see the places you are describing. I would like to travel, but my sarc has put some major limits on that. If you ever can put some pictures on the website. Yosemite is someplace I have always wanted to see, the waterfalls sound so beautiful. Thanks.....Connie Oh by the way guys I am so thankful for our recent tropical storm "Alberto". It has been raining and a little windy, and the plants and grass are loving it. I had been praying that we would get a tropical storm that would sit off the coast and just rain on us, & this one did just that. It didn't do any real damage, and to my knowledge did no human damage, and delivered the rain we needed so badly. God is good! tiodaat@... wrote: There are rice fields in your areaSure are!
