Guest guest
We do have a large family room in the basement. It is pretty cool down there now. Almost like a theater. We don't have a video camera but Dean's (my hubby) father had one here for the party and was taping some of it for us. We really want ot borrow/rent a video camera soon to be able to get Asenath singing or playing with her dinosaurs. I know this would be a hard memory but a wonderful one also for later on. I just can't imagine NOT having some videos of her to watch. It would really be hard for me to know I could have had her on tape and not did it. I keep telling my hubby that, but we just haven't done it yet. Now we will have some, but not enough for me. Of course, I hope we have many more years to do it in, but if we don't, I want to do it now. It has been a fun day but also hard because I knew many people came for her party thinking it may be her last. It is hard having to update people over and over again how she is and what her prognosis is also. I had to do that on the phone multiple times this past week. Plus dealing with the wheelchair fitting and OT evaluation for Porrah, plus other stuff I won't get into, made this a very long, tiring week. But the party was so special and Asenath was very happy! Sorry I am going on... Darla Re: Asenath's Make-A-Wish/4th B-day!!! Hi Darla: That sounds like a wonderful make a wish; especially if it is hard to travel and this is a wonderful family get together; especially in the winter. I can't imgines such a large screen. Do you have a large room to put it in? I was trying to picture some thing that large in our living room; because Leah loves tv and her favorite videos are the Baby Einstein videos. Now, especially the animal ones. Do you have a video camera so you can view her big birthday next week on the big tv? I know Leah loves to look at herself and also recognizes her family members and gets excited to see them on "tv". I hope the birthday party is a true celebration of being 4. What a milestone for her and your family. Celebrate loud, wild, and just plain full of fun. Nerenhausen mom to Leah Darla Klein wrote: This week we got Asenath's Wish Gift. Because she loves her "Land Before Time" Dinosaur movies, we were recommended a big screen 57" tv w/ a VCR/DVD and surround sound home theater system. They also surprised us with about 10 DVD's and videos. Asenath loved the t-shirt and was so happy about the DVD's they chose. She has been watching her dinosaur friends on a huge tv and really enjoying it. We feel the choice was a good one and she will enjoy it for a long time to come, not to mention the rest of the family. My older kids think it is awesome! It is almost like being in a theater. It was great timing too because Asenath's 4th birthday is next Wednesday, the 3rd, and we are having a big party for her in our home. She is real excited about it! I just love to see her smile; i seems like the smiles haven't been as frequent with all the steroid bloating. Guest guest
Don't apologize for going on. It was fun to hear about the party. You just got me thinking that we don't have Leah on video. We've watched videos when the boys had their birthday parties and to look at when he was 5 and 2 and what they could do brings a smile to my face. All mothers can relate looking at pictures when their "babies" were little and the innoence of life. You know I had to think of you today because when I saw Good Morning America and they talked about this mom who adopted 6 girls. Not sure the exact story behind it. But they called her super mom. A part of me was disappointed in what they consider super mom and I thought of you and what I would call a super mom. And all the super moms in this group. What we do on a daily basis. Yes I'm sure her days are full; but with able bodied kids they are able to help with getting dressed, feeding themselves, picking up after themselves. A mom may be running kids to and from activities; but have you ever been a parent having to run an able bodied child to an activitity with a child in a wheelchair; or trying to lead an average life and not be able to do things always as a family because we can't expose our children to a group of people because of illness; or that child gets sensory overload because of all that is going on around them. We are the super moms; super parents. Dealing with fun parties and having to explain to every one how our child is doing trying to be positive in the fact of people; but yet going on with life knowing things can change in a heart beat. I'm so glad Asenath's party was special. I pray that this isn't her last and she will have fun looking at herself in the video. We must borrow a camera real soon and just start recording Leah's life and the boys too. I'm glad the party was a success; now you need to take a breather and hopefully let calgon take you away for a few moments.
