Guest guest Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Yeah...I'm ok. I just got back from the funeral of my close friend. It was hard and I'm emotionally wrung out. To see his two brothers (one is my best friend, the other my first love/lover) serving as pall bearers for their little brother nearly killed me. They are really suffering...as are 's parents. But I was proud of my men today. They really did well. I'm not at work, trying to finish up some last minute stuff. I take tomorrow off, and hopefully will get a little time to rest (although I'm accompanying my friend and her husband to the hospital to deal with their situation). So...we'll see. Right now, I feel utterly exhausted. But, I called this a.m. and my pee was fine. (That was in question for a while), so no need for pre-op anti-biotics.... And my sexy wonderful French friend is as fabulous as ever. Maybe even more so. He just is the best. Period. Always says exactly the right thing. I'm very lucky to have him in my corner right now... Guest guest Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 Robynn-- What an emotionally exhausting day for you. I'm so sorry! Your day is drawing near. Don't forget to take your Milk of Magnesia tomorrow. I hope the drive to the hospital isn't too far. If it works as well on you as it did on me, the 15 minute ride back and forth to my sons school was torturous! That stuff cleans out good. I'll pray for you and your friends and their very big decision to make, as well as the family and friends of loved one they lost. Can't wait to hear that you are safely on the other side! Guest guest Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 OK YOU PEOPLE....NO MORE COMMENTS ABOUT SUCH UNPLEASANT PERSONAL ,Er, EARTHY THINGS. I mean, please...let me retain a modicum of dignity. The one area in my life where I am squeamish and modest is the RESTROOM. In 12 years of living with my husband, he never once saw me on the toilet. Nope. Not pretty, not romantic, not open for discussion. Now, nudity...that's a different story. I'm the original nudist. In fact, the other day I was naked as a jay bird, leaning out on my balconies (yes, I do live in congested SF, why do you ask?) watering my plants, when the cute young guy who lives in the building across the way smiled and waved. I waved back...nonchalently got out of his way...and then tore down the hallway in a fit of embarrassment...just praying that I wasn' t suddenly playing the role of the 'Ugly Naked Guy" (only in this case, "girl") on Friends!!! I mentioned the nudity incident to (the cutie French boy), and he said, 'Shame on you, pretty naked lady!" I thought that was pretty cute. Guest guest Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 It sounds like your little alteration Wednesday, is going to be the least stressful event in your week! Life passages are always huge triggers. I hope you spent more time celebrating 's life than mourning his death. He will live on on in all your hearts. I'm sure your friends (reading between the lines) have made the right decision. I'm also sure they are taking solice in your support, at this most traumatic of times. Ma petite merle, you've given so much of yourself to so many others lately. Now it's your turn. Focus on you for the next few days, will ya? You're worth it and you need/deserve it. Guest guest Posted June 6, 2005 Report Posted June 6, 2005 As it was a Catholic funeral, it was pretty much focues on the gloom. But afterwards, at their house, we recounted stories. I remembered an apron he got me, over 25 years ago, that says, "Who invited all of these tacky people, anyway?" He had it made, because it was a comment I made once at a dinner party I hosted at his house. (Of course I was joking). He was someone who was never mean to anybody. Except for the poor subsequent women who dated his older brother right after we broke up. I think he invited the "talk to the hand" thing when it came to them. ANd there was the one to whom he said, "You, my dear, are trash. Trash. Bob, how could you possibly go from BROOKE (his nickname for me) to that, that, that...trailer park throwaway?" Harsh, yes. Unlike him, yes and no. He was just protective of me, and totally wanted me for a sister in law. He was right, she was trash...and Bob agreed. Fortunately, Bob wound up marrying a terrific lady who is very friendly with me. Loyalty. My . Guest guest Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Lol, girl you are in for a surprise. If it is sleep you want...it is sleep you will get. Although I must say because the staff kept coming in to take vitals, give me shots, give me the asthma treatment, take my diabetic reading and me taking myself on a stroll in the hospital, I did not get sleep. Every hour someone came in. So I spent the day/night looking at TV. When I got home, it caught up with me and all I did was sleep and when I was awake, I walked. I am so excited for you Robynn. It feels like it is my turn all over again. Guest guest Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 Robynn--If that MOM works as well on you as it did on me, you might want to invest in a small package of Attends (to catch any " accidents " LOL). Luckily I was at my pre-op appointment on the day before my surgery (in San Diego) when I had my acident. I had to borrow a hospital gown until my hubby brought me some spare clothing to get back to the hotel after class. Oy veh! But, you'll get through it, I'm sure. I wish the best for you for tomorrow, and I pray that God guides the surgeon's hands. --Sandi > Robynn-- > Your day is drawing near. Don't forget to take your Milk of Magnesia tomorrow. I hope the drive to the hospital isn't too far. If it works as well on you as it did on me, the 15 minute ride back and > forth to my sons school was torturous! That stuff cleans out good. > > I'll pray for you and your friends and their very big decision to > make, as well as the family and friends of loved one they lost. > > Can't wait to hear that you are safely on the other side! > > Hugs, > Tina Quote
Guest guest Posted June 7, 2005 Report Posted June 7, 2005 I hope you get Ricky to do your IV. If you do give him a hug from Pam and I cause we both loved him. No pain at all. GOOD LUCK GIRLIE. Guest guest Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 We was fun but did the job like a magician. Nice looking black guy. Was that him? Guest guest Posted June 8, 2005 Report Posted June 8, 2005 Yep, that was him. He was a hoot and it was the easiest IV I've ever had put in! She probably got him. I think I heard him say that he was the only one doing them for the early surgery. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Does anyone know when the next meetings > > > > > are and > > > > > > > > > > where?? Guest guest Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 Yep, I got him. Loved him. Not only was he nimble with the IV, but he explained everything really well, was courteous, funny, sassy and just did everything to make me feel very very comfortable. I had some great nurses, as well!! RobynnTina wrote: Yep, that was him. He was a hoot and it was the easiest IV I've ever had put in! She probably got him.
