Guest guest
, I definitely will be thinking of you tomorrow. That also happens to be the day I get my splint off after 6 weeks! You know, the first week is so absolutely weird, that I didn't notice much in the way of my face being more aligned. I was pretty busy trying to keep the nausea and pain under control, as well as cope with the swelling. Right after surgery, I just felt drugged, and nauseated. Then the swelling began, and for the first week I was really swollen. I took a lot of hot showers, picked around at my nose, (hey, I needed to breathe!) and lost 10 pounds. After that week I started drinking soups, had the pain pretty much in control and watched my swelling go down bit by bit, day by day. At 6 weeks I am still a bit puffy, but I like my profile, I like my bite, and I think the surgery definitely took care of what it was supposed to. I still have some equilibrium problems, but now it is due to my ears being clogged up which is a common side effect of this surgery. (You can't yawn, blow your nose etc..so things get clogged.) However, at about 3 weeks I noticed that my face felt " together " for the first time. Things just felt even, no longer felt like my face was " falling in " .. Now I can say I feel Great! Ready to have my splint out, ready to eat and talk. It is hard to talk because your muscles are sore, and your mouth is constricted. I don't teach, but I do have to talk to people and I noticed that talking really makes me swell more and feel sore. It just takes a while I think to get used to everything being so new. As for the bones healing, it really is just now that I feel like they are solid, no longer fragile. And no, I have not had the experience of having a medical dr. send me to a psych., however, not all shrinks are that bad!! (grin..I'm in that area..) BEST to you tomorrow, eat your fav. stuff today. I can't tell you how much I still miss English muffins and fruit loops. Sigh. Let us know how you do and keep your spirits up, Alix -- - In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " loveinlineny " wrote: > Dear Alix, > Thanks for ur comforting response it helped to know that I am not > alone that someone else has experience equilibrim problem due to the > jaw being off.
