Pre-orthognathic swelling

Hi everybody!

I'm a new member. I've had TMJ pain for about 10 years (I'm now

24), and finally had upper orthognathic surgery last May. While the

pain is a lot better, I've had bone loss and my cartilage is so

screwed up that it looks like I'll have to have joint surgery to

help my limited movement.

Anyway, the only thing I really don't like about the orthognathic

surgery is the swelling in my face!!! The incision inside my mouth

has pretty much healed, but I still have swelling in my nose and the

area of my face on either side of it. My surgeon says it should go

away in 6-9 months, but I was wondering what you guys have

experienced in this department...

Thanks! :o)
