Bone Grafts & Headaches

There's been a lot of talk about bone grafts (using hip bone, cadaver

bone, etc) lately. Does everyone need a bone graft during surgery?

I'll be getting surgery done for an open bite but I don't remember my

surgeon mentioning anything about a bone graft.

Also, are headaches a frequent problem during recovery from surgery?

I've heard that even long after a person's surgery, headaches occur

more often and are more severe than they were before surgery was done.

Thanks a lot for any comments.

Hey Kirstin,

I just had surgery for an open bite, no bone grafts or anything like

that. I had lots of headaches before surgery, but like Cammie said,

I can say that I have none post op! Most of the muscle tension in my

face and head are gone, I feel more " balanced " . My biggest gripe

would have to be the swelling. I'm 3 and 1/2 weeks post op and my

mouth and cheeks are still puffy and sore. As for the rest,

definitely worth it to correct an open bite. Alix
