Guest guest
Hey all, I had my surgery July 23 and recovery was not terrible after the first week. Most of my numbness is gone (a small spot on my chin, and about 1/4 of my lower lip are still number but I don't even really notice it anymore) and the swelling seems to be gone, which is great. HOWEVER--sometimes when I wiggle my jaw to the left I get a " scraping " or " grinding " type feeling (it seems like a sound but I don't think anyone else could probably hear it). Has anyone else had this problem? My doc is in another state and I'm not due to see her for awhile so I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has had this happen. Also, how far can most of you open your mouth by 6 months? I can only fit three fingers in , although I can FINALLY eat apples and such without having to cut them up (oh, yeah, my incredible ortho took the braces off two months after the surgery). Thanks! a
Guest guest
Hmmm, I could bit into softer things (bread, eggs, macaroni, etc) as soon as they took my splint off at three weeks. It took me a good 1 1/2 months for crunchier stuff. Chewing, however, took me a good solid 2 months to get the total hang of. And I still forget how to sometimes. ) a > a, > > How long before you could actually " bite " into something? > > Smooches
