Guest guest
Beth, Yes, it has happened. It has sometimes had a good outcome, and sometimes not so good. There are no guarantees... Particularly not about TMJ troubles. But I am hoping that what you're feeling and hearing will prove insignificant, long-term. It is probably a lot too soon to start worrying (although if I were you, I would tell your os immediately. As in, call him first thing in the morning). Come to think of it, I did have some pain in the jaws at two or three weeks post op (although no sounds) and he put on some pretty heavy-duty elastics up front. The pain stopped within 15 minutes. Honest. So let them know you're hurting, then let them advise you about what comes next. (Heat also helped me, but my ortho said to do it in no more than 15-minute sessions, or I could do damage.) and there are docs who specialize in tmj troubles, just in case your surgeon is not one of them.
