Guest guest
Hi Lorie: I also had surgery on March 2nd! We're surgery buddies. ;-) Have you tried to see if Motrin or Tylenol can relieve your pain? I've found that that's all I need. I stayed away from narcotics in the beginning b/c I was so afraid of getting nauseated, but I found that OTC pain meds worked just fine. Guest guest
If you really want to be able to type and have an ice pack, or a heaing pack for that matter, on your jaw, the solution is the zippie jaw wrap. Check it out. It comes with little packets of gel that you can freeze or heat. It's a soft jersey, with a Velcro fastening at the top of your head. It holds the heat or cold where you want it, and your hands are free. One of my colleagues made a bit of fun of me for using it, telling me I looked like the old fashioned " aching tooth " characters in the funny papers. I told him I AM an old-fashioned character, with lots more than a tooth aching! It did help, though. I'd think this is a bit long to be using hydrocodone. For one thing, I'd be in sore need of some prunes or bran after this amount of time. Have you tried other, less potent things, like tylenol or Motrin or Alleve? Ask your doc about what to do. If he doesn't want to give you more of the narcotic help, perhaps he can suggest something else. I think that's the key -- don't go in asking for a specific drug, but do go in asking for help with the pain. And I don't think I'd wait until my next visit. I think I'd call the office and tell them I was hurting! Guest guest
Cammie: Thanks for your response. I have been taking other OTC in the afternoon. It seems to help. But now that I'm completely out of the narc's I guess I'll see to which degree of pain I am truly in. As for the head wrap at work, thanks but no thanks. I guess I'm a little more vain than that. Thanks for the suggestion though. Your suggestion on how to approach my doctor was perfect. Thank you. It's time to go home now!!
