Thanks a for responding...nice to know there is another one out

there! Some days I don't notice the difference and then other days

is seems that jaw is sticking a mile out!

I hope someone who actually had this done can give us some

feedback! There is an actual jaw augmentation website if you are

interested in more info. I did some very initial research and

apparently back in the 80's there was a lawsuit filed against a

company that made jaw implants.....I believe out of silicone? They

are no longer making this and went bankrupt....but that did get me

thinking about the material they use. Also I have read where cheek

implants can move....I don't believe the jaw implant can as my OS

said they screw it implace.....also another thing to ponder is any

problems with scar tissue? I also doubt this since they just make

an incision inside our mouths just big enough to slide the implant

in place. My OS kind of laughed when I asked him how invasive this

procedure is and he said, " compared to what you've been through

already?! "

Did your OS want to wait a year also before doing anything? I

wonder if that is normal as I believe someone previously posted that

their OS shaved their jaw during the initial surgery. That would

have been nice to have gotten it all over and done with then huh?

(Especially since I doubt my insurance will cover this now, and may

have if it was done during surgery). I believe he was leaning

toward having implant rather than shaving as with an implant they

can be more precise in measurement and making sure it is symmetrical

with the other jaw. Geesh....the last place I thought I would have

an implant would have been my face :)!

I'll keep you posted!

Carol
