How does your face look different? I used to have really high

cheekbones which made my face look nice, but I feel like my mouth now

is overpowering my eyes and cheekbones that made me look better

before. Im upset because I didnt have to do this, I only did because

I thought I'd look better. Do you think maybe it's just the swelling

that's hiding my cheekbondes? I am soooo depressed, I hate to look at

myself.

I'm in a similar situation, but I'm pre surg. I'm having the surgery

to correct my bite, and the OS, my ortho, my dentist, all keep

telling me how much better I'm going to look when this is done. I'm

old enough not to care how others think I look anymore, but it is a

bit discomforting to think that others think I'll look 'better'.

Then there is my family who keeps telling me they won't know if I'm

mad anymore because when I'm angry I stick my jaw out like it will be

when the surgery is done.

I'll make you a bet. Post your pics on site 2 and I'll let you know

how cute/attractice/gorgeous/babilicious I think you are. My guess,

you are both VERY attractive and are just getting used to the new

you! :-)

The standard formulation Fiddly and I arrived at a few years

ago for dealing with this problem when approaching someone who's had

jaw surgery (or anticipating it) is to say something along the lines

of:

" Gee! I see you had your surgery. You're looking really good. Not, of

course, that there was anything wrong with the way you looked before! "
