Oh my...I just realized a big OOOPS! on my part. When everyone was saying

" canker sores " , I was thinking about the deep, painful cracks on the sides of my

mouth...not fever blisters.

Please 86 the " Neosporin " remedy...I didn't have fever blisters.

Again, I am so sorry for giving bum remedy advice. Please forgive me.

Re: Canker sores

Although I know no science to support what I'm saying, I believe it

does indeed have to do with the stress (and perhaps the steroids, as

well)

We know that canker sores (fever blisters) are a form of the herpes

virus. I know that I didn't have them, but did develop shingles (also

a form of herpes -- neither is the genital type) not quite two months

out of surgery. It was, in addition to surgery recovery, a time of

great stress for me, and I will always believe I was exposed to a kid

either recovering from or contracting chicken pox (another, similar

form of herpes) in an EENT office where I spent several hours with

many germy little ones swarming. I think my resistance was low, and

that it was no wonder at all.

I believe that steroids can also weaken the immune response, although

I am ready to be corrected by anybody who knows more than I do on the

subject.
