What kind of braces do you need to have before surgery?

I am considering having surgery done for an overbite, i know that you

have to wear braces for 1-2 years beforehand but am just wondering if

anyone can tell me what type is required. Has anyone had the type

that is removable or that are fixed on the inside of your teeth so

they aren't seen??
