They're usually used when there are very large movements involved. My mandible was advanced 17 mm forward and the condyle was distracted 15 mm making a grand total of 32 mm of new bone in my lower jaw on each side. I'm really glad to hear everything went well at your surgeon's appointment. What a relief that must have been.
