Hi Val,

I can't help with advice on out of town surgery, but just curious as

to why you are going to Dallas. Better docs there? I live in Vegas

and feel that I had a great surgeon.

You didn't really provide enough information for people to formulate

a useful response. For example, do you have friends and/or family in

Dallas? Why are you doing the surgery away from home? What type of

surgery are you having? Are you expecting to be banded or wired? Have

you discussed a post-op visit schedule with your surgeon or are you

going to receive followup care from a local/Vegas OS? How long are

you planning on staying in Dallas post-op? What's your budget or plan

for local living expenses and return trips in case of followup?

Good questions neil.

I'm actually going to have my surgery in Venezuela (don't know when

exactly yet) and I live in Aruba. I'll be staying in Venezuela for

10 days. When I arrive they'll do some tests etc. After two days,

I'll have the surgery and I'll be at the clinic for one night. My

husband is going with me to Venezuela. He's staying at a hotel

nearby, where I'll also be after the night in the clinic. After one

week, I'll have my follow up appointment to check if everything is

ok. I'm flying back to Aruba after 10 days, where my ortho will keep

a close eye on me. Should I have any other complaints etc. or more

follow up appts necessary, I can go back to Venezuela (it's pretty

close, flight of about 30 minutes).

Regarding food: the hotel is next to a mall, I'll be on soups etc

anyway.

Regarding hotel: make reservation

Regarding transportation: my insurance company has phonenrs of

taxidrivers there (Arubans that live there that are very helpful).
