Guest guest
Hi Mike, I looked through the thread trying to find where someone was unsympathetic towards your plight but couldn't find it. All experiences are welcome and appreciated here, both good and bad. I am sorry for your pain and unhappiness and wish that things get better for you. I hope that you will stay on the Board and read further to see that you are not alone here. Unfortunately, there are others who have had poor outcomes. Maybe you can find them and get the support and advice which you seek. One other suggestion. Have you looked into a facial pain center in your area? Take care, Cheryl
Guest guest
Mike, that sounds more like a parting shot than parting thoughts. And it was a shotgun message aimed at anyone who replied to your posts, since you didn't specify whom you thought was polyanna-ish, dismissive of your situation, or those who you find immature, disrespectful and rude. Hmmmm - might that not be immature, disrespectful and rude? I think so. If my remarks offended you, I'm sorry. That wasn't my intent, I was trying to help, like others who responded. But I can't control your response to it. You've got bigtime pain problems, yes. And we're sorry for that. But personally I think you're going over the top with the mental pain you're creating for yourself, as well as the fear you're spreading for those contemplating this surgery. If that offends you, I'm sorry. But that's how I feel. Anybody else feel that way? Once again, I wish you relief from all of your suffering, physical and mental. I'm sorry you didn't get the support you felt you needed from this group. There is a group for those with severe TMJ problems, and you might wish to join them. The link for that is in the yahoo clubs page on the geocities site at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo/

Guest guest
Hello??? Perhaps I am squawking before I've been swiped at, but since you and I have had the most prolonged discussion of this matter, I do take some offense at your remarks, to wit: " There seem to be some people on this site who would prefer to be > polyanna about the surgery and are dismissive of those of us that > have had serious problems after the surgery. I have found some of > these people's attitudes to be immature, disrespectful and rude. " If that's supposed to be about me, I think it unjust and untrue as a characterization. Matter of fact, it would seem to me that one who stoops to an ad hominem attack shows more such characteristics than do I. I have always been, I think, respectful of your approach, although I profoundly disagree with much of the advice that you give. Except that part in which you tell folks to consider carefully before undertaking the surgery. I agree, as I have often said before, that anybody and everybody undertaking any major surgery should consider the risks and benefits carefully. I, too, wish all, even those who engage in personal attacks against me, well, and as I have said before, I hope that you find some resolution for your troubles. Mercifully, your experience, like Andy's, is unusual, rather than the norm.
