Guest guest
Hi, Well someone side this is a wild ride, yes. I came home from hospital yesterday (Monday 26th). My lower jaw surgery (to correct my overbite), genioplasty and rhinoplasty were on Saturday (24th) am. The surgery took 3 1/2 hours. The next 24 hours were hell, (sorry people yet to go through it) jaws banded totally shut, gastric tube, tubes in both nostrils, IV fluids, IV painkillers, bed pan. Worst was the claustrophobic feeling of not being able to open my mouth and the feeling of the gastric tube and gagging at stuff dripping down the back of my throat and no water from midnight Friday to mid-day Sunday. The relief is indescribeable of getting the rubber bands cut (the middle ones and getting that gastric tube out and being able to drink water again. Everything else has paled into in significance in comparision with that. Well I'm home..what can I say, and and others yet to go through this, have your favorite meal before you go into hospital. Forget heavy reading material after, celebrity gossip in magazines was about all I could manage. To those with surgery pending several months away I say get fit. My months of Thai Kick Boxing has really paid off. I feel so much stronger physically than after my last jaw surgery (upper) in April 2002. Well I'm off to start the blender...lets see beef dinner? fruit? yoghurt? a three course breakfast with antibiotics, why not! Also good luck , thinking of you for the 2nd and too. you are a very witty and funny person, I could relate to the stuff you wrote, (for me it was my nose -but I had an overbite as well -til Saturday that was).
