Guest guest
Hi! I posted on this site a few times about a year ago and have been lurking ever since. I had upper jaw surgery (LeFort 1 osteotomy with rigid fixation) 2 weeks ago. Stayed a couple of nights at the hospital with my hubby. My doctor and husband insisted on the 2nd night because they know about my history of throwing up after surgery. Luckily, I did not even throw up even once! I'm beginning to feel human again. The swelling has gone down tremendously but there is still numbness in some places. I'm also beginning to feel some pain around my upper teeth. (Is this normal?) Last Tuesday, though, I noticed that a small portion on the right side of my head is tender to the touch. If I put pressure on it with my finger, it becomes painful. Is this all part of the swelling/pain associated with orthognatic surgery? Have some of you experienced this?
Guest guest
Oh, I dont really have much pain on side of head. It is more of a throbbing sensation on my temples. > > Hi! Guest guest
azinsomniac: I hope that by the time are reading that you are feeling better. Yes, I kept drooling the first few days I was at home. I wasn't prepared for this feat so the first time it happened, my hair, chest, and pillow were soaked!!! I was able to close my lips easily because I have some lips on me!!! In fact, after the surgery, my lips were 5X bigger than Angelina Jolie's!! I didn't have genio...just the upper jaw surgery (OS advanced it forward). In my initial consultation with him, he was going to do upper, lower, and genio. However, the orthodontist did a great job of straightening the lower teeth that the OS felt confident that working on the upper would solve my problem. I was a bit skeptical since 2 other surgeons suggested doing upper, lower, and genio. But...so far so good. I'm happy with what I see in the mirror thus far...I guess I won't really know until the bones completely heal! Hope you are feeling better! Is there anyone out there who experienced the pain on the head I mentioned in my previous post?? > > Hi!
