Guest guest
Well, lets see. The trick is...when your body says, " I'm about to barf " you do not have to do a thing; your body will take care of everything! Even if there's hardly nowhere for it to come out at. It's all liquid too, so it really comes out easier than one would think although it's not a pretty site! > Howdy all, > > Sounds like upchucking after surgery to get all that blood out of > your stomach is pretty much inevitable (or even inviting, to get rid > of discomfort). So, how do you do it? With the splint in and > banded shut, where is there room for stuff to come out? Guest guest
The big part of the trick is that there's nothing but liquid in there, if you've followed your doc's instructions about when to stop eating the night before. So all of it just finds its way out, if you get my drift. Guest guest
ASK FOR GRAVOL SHOTS IN POST OP. And take it after for about 2 weeks I did throw up once, its not as bad as it seems. I cried BEFORE Throwing up as I expected...the worst! Then I made my dh drive me to the hopsital for the gravol shot as I was too afraid to upchuck my gravol tablets. Guest guest
That's funny, I mean, how can you be dignified and throw up blood? You just do it, no time to think about it. It's all liquid, no big deal, as long as you're prepared for it to happen (and it might not), it's less frightening. The nurses were there for me each time, and they cleaned it up. I was very apologetic about the mess I made in my private bathroom. I only threw up twice on the day of surgery, and both times were when I got up to go to the bathroom, I guess the movement disturbed the blood in my tummy - once it was gone, I didn't throw up again. I don't think you need to worry. You'll be in a hospital, they're prepared for anything and everything.

Guest guest
I was really worried about this pre op, but it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. (Not that it wasn't bad!) I think because the blood is pretty thin, it just slides out the spaces between your cheecks and jaws. Ya know how you have a small gap between your back molar and the bone? And some went through my braces, too. I have a splint in, and am tightly banded, but it came out pretty easily. I was afraid it would be ... um, chunky, but it wasn't. I guess it backed up a little bit and then drained out. I can't really remember. I just remember feeling better immediately. Are you having upper done? (Or was the TMJ surgery the only one you're having?) I think it's unusual to lose enough blood with lower only that you would make you throw up.
