Guest guest
yes, I had that same surgery and I also had braces on.. the surgery is so rough that all my braces were broken.. my teeth shifted dramatically. my orthodontist was sure to re arrange my teeth again to get the mid line where it should be. congratulations on your surgery Midline is off about 1mm after surgery Hello. I was wondering if anybody could help me. I just had upper and lower jaw surgery 2 weeks ago. After the swelling went down and the rubber bands removed, I noticed that my upper and lower midline were not aligned. I don't know if my teeth were aligned in the first place before the surgery but I am concerned that the doctor could have made a mistake. Am I wrong? Is this normal? My question is, can the orthodontist fix this? Anybody with similar experience, please reply as soon as possible. Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Six weeks after surgery, my midline was dead on target; however, 3 weeks later (at 9 weeks), it seemed that my lower jaw had shifted about 1 mm and my midline was off by that much and seemed to be still moving. Last Wednesday (11 weeks post-op), I went to my ortho appt and he said he could fix that right up. He banded me together with four different bands (each, of course, for a different reason). One band in front that connects diagonally from the left top to the right bottom was for my midline. I was to wear it 24/7 until my midlines were lined up, then only at night to keep it lined up. When I woke up Thursday morning, my midlines were right on target - yes, overnight! Now I only wear that particular band at night and my midlines are still beautifully in tact. Long way to answer the question, but yes, your ortho can and will fix the midlines. Smooches Midline is off about 1mm after surgery Hello. I was wondering if anybody could help me. Guest guest
Only being 2 weeks post op, if your jawbone was wired, your surgeon can still move your jaw around with the elastics. Ours did because our midline was off and we didn't close on one side. If you had plates and screws put in place it is more ridgid and will need to be something your ortho will need to look at. Please call your surgeon and express your concerns. Midline is off about 1mm after surgery Hello. I was wondering if anybody could help me. I just had upper and lower jaw surgery 2 weeks ago.
