Guest guest
Shiloh, I think I'm buying my orthodontist a new Mercedes this year. Not only am I in braces, but my 14 year old is almost done, and my 11 year old is 3 months into it, and last week my 8 year old got a referral because his top two teeth are each going different directions and the dentist wants to stop that before it goes any longer. ANYWAY, the real reason for my post is your comment about your oldest being on here when you graduate. My 11 year old was told she has a jaw like her Dad's. But she's young enough that they can still fix it with headgear. Yeah, I know it sucks, but at least she doesn't have to go through the surgery. So, get your kiddo into the orthodontist for a check sooner rather than later. Maybe they'll have luck with still growing jaws for you. Guest guest
lol no kidding, I am lucky though my ortho is mucho reasonable. 3 years 2 surgeries and only charged me 2k Canadian. (including bite plates, retainers etc) ANYWAY, the real reason for my post is your comment about your oldest being on here when you graduate. My 11 year old was told she has a jaw like her Dad's. However she spent I think it was the summer she was 5 at her grandmothers...on her fathers side - of course. Grandma gave her 5 dollars a day to go to the store. Needless to say she rotted out two bottom molars and were pulled - stupid me should have had htem capped/crowned something... as she lost the bone and even spacers did squat. SO she now has enough space between upper and lower for me to stick my thumb in between...I figure though she has to be 14-16ish or done growing before surgery and there's nothing any orthos going to do for the bone loss...so I am thinking of starting braces at about 13- 15. Depending when she hits puberty right as women stop growing x number of years after ...etc. Or when she hits an 'appropriate' height, like if she was seventeen but still five one I might wait until she's all done. But while we get coverage here for it under the govt I am going to get it done before she graduates highschool...so she may avoid all the issues I had with my smile. That and she's not at ten responsible enough for braces...but I may see about a headgear retainer just for spite - kidding talk about a self esteem killer.... Don't talk back or I'll make you wear that to school! lol. Poor kid though is really tiny framed, and has big ears that stick out and an overbite with big front teeth. That oh so awkward stage!
