Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just a quick note. I'm taking my Mom home tomorrow after her two week visit here. We have had a blast. Friday she went into an extreme "asthma" attack and I had to take her to the ER. After an exciting 10 hour visit. She was released to go home. With all her medical problems they really made sure that she was well enough to go home. We found out some very interesting things from that visit. But the most intriguing things is she has un-dx diabetes. Yup after six hours of fasting they drew blood labs and her sugar levels came back high. Since it did not related to her breathing problem she was released and told to follow up with her doctors at home. But no mention of the elevated sugar levels. We followed her sugars levels here at home since Friday and found that they correlate with her "asthma" attacks and her horrible pains in her neck. So we are cutting her trip short so she can get her doctors to send her to and endo. doctor and finally get to the bottom of this. It was really nice to be able to help my Mom out. I know I'm coming in late on several topics but one I really want to stress here is that Pred. will cause blood sugars to be elevated. When they get high, you want to eat more. And usually it is the highly fattening type of foods, like lemon bars, or the whole pan, and things to this nature. These are all signs that you may be having problems with your sugar levels. RP can cause diabetes, so can pred. Please if you are having major hunger and eating more then you would normally have your doctors monitor or blood sugar levels. Fasting and non-fasting. It could save your life. If your doctors won't, buy the over-the-counter monitors and check them yourself. It is easy to do. Sandy Thanks for the thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed those articles. P. It is good to have you back with us and posting again. Got to run. Tomorrow is a 400 mile trip one way. Love R.
