Well, what should you do? First, you should tell your surgeon what

you told us. Print out your post, if you can't handle speaking it. If

need be, mail it (with your signature, of course) and write a note

that something makes you uncomfortable about bringing it up.

Second, sorry to say this, but give ma nature a bit more time. Six

weeks is really, really soon after a major rearrangement to try to

figure out how you're gonna look after everything is healed. After

all, some folks are wired for 8 weeks!

And honestly, how your cheeks look is not truly crucial to the

direction of your life, nor to the satisfaction you may or may not

find later, unless you let it govern your life. You can be charming,

witty, accomplished, brilliant, dull, cruel, kind, boring, etc., no

matter how you look. Honest. I've known my share of all the above.

Beautiful and not.

I don't blame you for worrying, being concerned, etc. And I'll bet

your surgeon won't, either. And if you eventually aren't happy, you

can ask your surgeon, or another, about doing the implants later,

when you'll be the one deciding, rather than your parents.

Good wishes,

Cammie

Dear ,

Please talk with your surgeon about your concerns. Your OS will be able to

respond to you factually about your specific problem.

Effects

I am almost 6 weeks post op now (upper only, moved forward about 5

mm). However, my surgeon had told me prior to operation that my " flat

cheeks " (they are not full at all and have a crease in them which

looks terrible, like im 50 when im only 19) that this would be

corrected by moving the jaw forward. Like I said, 6 weeks post op and

theyre still there and not showing any signs of leaving. It was my

primary concern before going into surgery that this would be taken

care of despite being a jaw operation. What should I do??? I really

like my surgeon and am not quite sure how to bring up his " promise " .

I have thought about cheek implants but my parents are wholeheartedly

against it as they see it as being one thing after another and they

think that after I get this done (which I prob wont since they wont

pay for it) that Im going to want something else. This is simply not

true. I am perfectly happy with everything in my life right now

besides my damn cheeks. Sorry for the language buyt I am extremely

frustrated at this point. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

, I had the upper (as well as lower) and it did fill my cheeks

in quite a bit. My surgeon sat me down recently, (I'm about 6 and a

half weeks post op) and asked me very carefully if I was pleased

with my nose, my chin, my cheeks, my bite, etc...He asked if there

was anything cosmetic I thought needed to be done and my answers

were all no at this point. He asked me to email or call him with any

concerns. I think your os should know on some level that you are not

pleased with your cheeks, and you're just wondering if this is

forever? Will it change more over time? (which I'm betting it

does..we're pretty close to the surgery still). Anyhow, I do

recommend you talk to him. I like my surgeon, too, but I wouldn't

hesitate to say that I wasn't happy about something. Good luck, try

not to worry. Alix
