Tracey,

I am also 30,weigh 326lbs, just married 1 year and although I have 2

step-kids, I definitely want to have some of my own. I have asked the

doctors and read everything I can find on pregnancy afterwards. Everything

indicates that we actually have a BETTER chance of actually getting pregnant

and having a healthy pregnancy AFTER the surgery. I don't know about the

additional health problems you have and how that affects it, but as far as

the DS surgery, it will not hinder pregnancy in any way from what I hear. I

am VERY concerned about that as well.

Tracey,

From my research so far, I've found the Dr.s don't

want you to get pregnant for the first 1-2 years after

your surgery due to the minimal amounts you will be

eating. It could cause nutritional problems for the

baby. However, after that time it's no problem. In

fact, they say when we weigh less, it's even easier to

concieve! Good luck to you.

I may be the only one who feels this way, maybe because I am 28 YO, and had

to have an emergency hysterectomy last year... but I worry about the

consequences, for YOU, if you should terminate this pregnancy, (I am

assuming that is what you are contemplating)... I have two boys, 2.5 and

almost four (and they are our WORLD)...but, we wanted one more baby... it

will never happen for us now. I still *grieve* over this, sometimes DAILY.

I cannot put into words what I would give to have one more baby grow inside

my body, bumping around for nine months... there is no cost I wouldn't pay,

no measure too extreme, I mean I would do ANYTHING. JMHO. The surgery you

could do after giving birth... the baby will not ~come back~ after the

surgery. Please understand I am in NO way judging you. Just trying to

share my story with you.

Let me tell you, I was 286#s with my second, (AFTER he was born). I had

Pubic Symphasis Laxity, meaning the cartilage that connect your pubic bones,

had softened too much, too early in my pregnancy. I was in PAIN *EVERY*

single day of my pregnancy, on bed rest for MONTHS, and as a result of this

condition had to have a c-sec at 38 weeks... At the time I was miserable

and couldn't wait to have the baby, thinking it was too much pain for one

mommy to endure for months! But!!!! What I would give to go through it

again...

Again, I just wanted to share my story with you, I would feel badly about

myself if I didn't... but I wish you the best and I *do* realize... YOU know

what is best for YOUR body, not-- me. Please let us know how things go, and

what you decide.

Fondly, (and with all sincerity)

I re-read the original post and I don't think she was saying that she

was pregnant and was planning not to go through with the pregnancy- I

think she was saying that maybe she would want to get pregnant again

and would she be able to do so after the surgery?

As for the original question- my surgeon said that as long as you

wait until you stop losing weight, you should be able to have a

pregnancy just fine after the surgery. I was concerned about this,

also, since we only have one child and would maybe like more.

I know some people have difficulty conceiving when they are obese- so

it may even help you get pregnant more easily.

Tracey,

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but there's a yahoo!group

that is a list of women who are both pre-op & post-op & talk about

pregnancy. Here's the address: OSSG-pregnant. Check it out.

They're very helpful.

Good luck,

Ohhhhhh~ I thought when she said she 'fell pregnant' she meant she IS

preggers... I am not always the brightest bulb on the tree, hehehe...

As far as getting pregnant AFTER surgery, most people believe that pregnancy

is much easier to achieve after surgery, but most docs insist on waiting 18

months to two years before getting pregnant... I have a wonderful friend on

another list that is planning on doing just that, waiting the recommended

time, and then trying to concieve... (I can't wait, of course, and hope I

get to be an Auntie .)

Anyway thanks for clearing that up, and best of luck to all~

Loriann,

Don't feel bad, I have read that post 3X (wait, now 4X) and it still

looks like she is saying she is pregnant to me. However, I haven't

checked the wattage (is that a word?!) in my bulb lately. I could be

wrong.

Thankyou for your heartfelt words and I am so sorry for your loss. I am so

sorry that I didnt word my email correctly. After re-reading it I realised

how it could have been misunderstood. Let me set some things straight. I

have a 10 month old son (and an angel in heaven) and our son is the

pregnancy I was talking about. I don't believe in convenience abortion. As

I stated previously I have some physical problems which I have always been

told would prevent me from falling pregnant, so imagine my amazment at

falling pregnant. We lost out first child and he is our angel in heaven.

But God is a wonderful God, and beyond my belief gave me a second chance.

My original email was really just a request to see if any of you wonderful

ladies (and gents) knew of anyone who had fallen pregnant after WLS. I hope

this clears things up. Again let me say I am sorry.

For me much of the confusion is that I have never heard of the term " fallen

pregnant " . Is this a common term in your area? Something regional? Or

perhaps my 30+ years since pregnant are showing. I love new terms and would

like to know more about this. I have heard of fallen women, fallen arches,

fallen cakes, and fallen dreams. But fallen pregnant is new to me. I

rather like the way it sounds.

Sounds like is a very loved and appreciated child. How wonderful for

all of you.
