Guest guest
Please help all, Our OS said to loosen up the jaw but when we asked how he just said to move it around. We would appreciate any help with some jaw exercises any of you have been given. What to do and how (specific). She is no longer banded at all so movement can be specific. We believe many have mentioned jaw exercises and that sounds more that just moving the jaw around. Thanks for your help. Jaw exercises and bruising Hi everyone! I got my splint out on Tuesday and have started doing some jaw exercises. Well, I expected my muscles to be a little sore, but I didn't expect any bruising. Is it normal to have some bruising from the exercises? I wouldn't want to be overdoing it or doing something wrong. Thanks! Guest guest
Juli, I hope I can explain this to where you understand what I'm talking about. What my OS told me to do (and it worked very well) was to take a clothespin and use it to GENTLY open and close my mouth. What I did was close the back end of the clothespin and let it slowly open up in my mouth because at first I could not open wide enough to get the front end of the clothespin inside my mouth. Once I was able to open wider, I began using the front end of the clothespin. Gently use it to open the mouth and hold it open for a count of ten. Repeat this until you've done it for a total of 10 times (10 reps of the count of 10). I did this 3 times a day. I'm 10 weeks post-op and I can open 3 fingers wide. Of course, now, my mouth opens wider than the clothespin so my OS told me to take my thumb and index finger to start stretching the mouth open even more. Hope this makes sense and helps. Guest guest
Hi Juli! I was told to try to open my jaw until it starts to really pull and then hold it for 5 seconds - then to move my lower jaw to the right as much as possible - and hold 5 seconds - same with the left - and to try and push my lower jaw out forward and once again - hold for 5 seconds. At least 4 times a day. Johanne > Please help all, > Our OS said to loosen up the jaw but when we asked how he just said to move it around.
