I was wired shut for 4 long weeks. 3 to 5 weeks seems to be the range for those of us that still have to endure that. How much weight have you lost--the only good part of it all for me. Good Luck! a > how long did everyone that was wired shut, have to wear them? i am 3 > and a half wks post op and going to see the doc tommorrow. i know i > will find out tomorrow how much longer but wanted to get a > consensius of how long everyone wore them. im hoping he will say > come back next friday and lets get those things out of there. Guest guest Posted January 2, 2004 Report Share Posted January 2, 2004 Hey Just got back from the Dr. The wires will come off Wed. and I will be banded. I have another question, they asked the doc if I needed to be sedated? I'm not sure why I would need to be, unless there is something else that is going to be taken out. The splint is also coming out, so I will finally be able to eat food w/ texture, ha. It depends on your doc's approach, how you heal, what you had done, etc. I've known people who were wired for a day or two, or some who were wired for a full two months. I hope you'll be in the short-term group!
