Guest guest
hey all, most of you wont know me as I have not visited this group in a long while. I just wanted to say that for all of you going through the surgery soon or recovery, there is hope and you will get through it, and never give up. I had lower jaw surgery and genioplasty last year to move my lower jaw back and make my chin smaller. After the surgery and after the unwiring after six weeks I still had a underbite. I cried and cried and cried. I went to my ortho the next day and cried there too. He assured me he would do everything he could to correct it. I underwent 9 months of intense orthodontics and heavy duty elastics to pull my jaw back where it should be. slowly my teeth and jaw moved into position and it was amazing. my teeth are very straight , my jaw is aligned nicely but its not 100% perfect. Im okay with that. the flaws that i see no one else would even notice. we are our own worst critics. I got my braces off 4 months ago and now have a permanent retainer on the lowers and a removable on the uppers. (Be diligent about wearing retainers, when i was 12 I had braces and then never wore the retainers and my teeth did move drastically.)It is a great feeling to have this behind me and I want to wish all of you luck with your surgeries and recoveries all the best wishes, Angie
