Guest guest
Hi. I'm so sorry for what happened to you. I had surgery six weeks ago, and my teeth were wired shut for almost four weeks. I remember the lack of energy, and I hated sucking through a straw too. It wore me out just doing that. I had a complete liquid diet until those wires were cut. It got quite aggravating when I couldn't get even the smallest chunks of food through my teeth, and it would clog up the straw. I would go without eating because I didn't want to go through the irritation of sucking through a straw and preparing meals thin enough to go through the straw. It's definitely not an easy experience. I just had to deal with it or starve. Luckily, for me-- my straw sucking experience only lasted four weeks. I'm still not allowed to chew yet, and I think I have two more weeks to go before I can. I was just thankful to get those wires off because that helped a lot. Now, I can swallow mushy stuff and not have to blend it up. My situation is totally different from yours because I chose to have this surgery. By reading your post, I can clearly tell how angry and aggravated you are. You have every right to feel that way. All I can say is to just try to hang in there. Recovery takes time, and sometimes that time seems to drag on and on. The good news is that it's temporary, and things will get better. I wish you the very best, and I hope you can eat normal again soon!! I'm really sorry about everything you have had to go through!
