,

I was banded, not wired, for 6 weeks. Meaning I have a little bit of

range and motion..but it's limited. And yes, my surgeon said that I

would be sore from talking for at least two months following

surgery. The swelling...ahh the swelling..it just takes a WHILE for

it to go away it seems. Here's what my surgeon said. In the first

week, you swell really badly, peaking at 48 hours post op. During

the second week you drop 50% of the major swelling. Then 30% the

following week. That leaves about 20% that just seems to tag along

in the weeks after.. Here I am at 6 weeks and while I feel puffy, my

husband says it's mostly resolved. This could be to me still being

numb in the lower lip and chin..it just feels weird. As for changing

my appearance? Yes, it did. For one, instead of being thin, I am now

skinny. LOL. And my face looks different, not so long, because my

bite was closed. And it was just this week that I started feeling

like me. Sleeping on my stomach helped with that one, I HATED

sleeping at a slant on my back!!!!

If you're up late reading this, (I didn't sleep the night before

surgery) then best of luck to you tomorrow. Everyone really does

recover differently, but you are not that far off in age from me, I

just turned 32. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes with you.

The first week is hard, so utilize this board a lot if it helps. And

you can always email me as well.
