Do what the doc said, and call the dermatologist. Here, it takes

three weeks to get in!

What could it be? Lots of things. Aftermath of the steroids, although

that's more usually like zits. Yeast. Yuck. Usually that's inside. Is

it possible that this is measles or chicken pox? (As in, we don't see

the horses, because we're looking for zebras? Although they would be

all over her body, and not just around her mouth.) Reaction to latex,

although it seems really late for that? Maybe it is the neosporin,

and it's just gonna take a while to subside.

Cortisone creams may help, or may make it worse. I'm not a derma. If

you can get in to see one quick, I'd take it there. If you can't get

in to see one, call the surgeon back and tell him your troubles, and

ask for more suggestions. (Hey -- one more thought. Benadryl is

available in a lotion. That may help with itching and swelling. It's

essentially an antihistamine -- but I'd want the surgeon, or someone

in his office, to tell me it's ok.)

Could be an allergic reaction to one of the liquid meds. I also got a rash, but

on my

back. It was only a little itchy so I didn't do anything about it, but one of

the meds

did say that was a possible reaction. Could be the dye in the motrin or the

antibiotic?

You might consult a pharmacist because they know a lot more about that type of

thing than most docs.

Luck,

Strangely enough, shortly post-op from upper and lower, I, too, had tiny red

bumps all over my face and I never even associated it with the surgery...I just

thought I was either having an allergic reaction to whatever I was using to

clean my face or it was caused by all the oil that my face started producing

post-op (it was horrible!).

Anyway, now I'm guessing that maybe it WAS due to the surgery. I'm not sure how

long it took, but it did go away - eventually.

red bumpy itchy rash

Hi all;

I have a question. My daughter is 16 and 10 days postop from upper

and lower. She is banded shut. She has developed and red rash

around her mouth and a red bumpy rash on her face. It is really

itchy on the nose. Talked to os and he said could be a alergic

reaction to something. Said if not better by monday should get her

into a dermatologist. At first, thought is was a reaction to the

neosporin, but stopped using that 2 days ago and rash seems the same.

She is eating well and drinking lots of water and juices. Any ideas

what this could be? Thanks so much!

First, I don't know what I'm talking about here.

But is it possible that you have allergies to the plastic (or latex)

in the breathing mask, or elastics that held it in place?

Just wondering. Might be worthwhile asking a dermatologist, or your

surgeon, in case you ever (God forbid) need surgery again. Of course,

I reckon that if you were allergic to latex, you'd have had problems

with the gloves I presume your dentists, orthos, surgeons and techs

used, too..
