I recommend you dont pick on your stitches. It might cause an

infection.

I inspected my stitches too after surgery and did not see

anything 'glossy' on my gums. It's normal to not be able to feel

your gums - I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and I still have no feeling in

my upper palette/gums. It takes awhile for the feeling to come back.

The gloss you see could be from not brushing well - which is

difficult right after surgery. Try swishing more frequently with

warm salt water to keep your mouth clean. If your OS didn't

prescribe an oral rinse (like peridex) you may want to ask about that

as well.

Hope that helps.

Rydog,

I know this may sound sarcastic, but it's really not. The " gloss " may just be

saliva...it was for me.

Glossy suface over gums

Hello again everybody, I am scheduled to see my doctor on friday but

couldnt wait to ask. Today i was lifting my lip to see my stitches

and i felt my gums and it seems that there is some kinda of gloss

covering my gums, and i cant feel my gums when i touch them. Is that

the novicain or some kind of protection against grime? I know it

sounds kinda weird i was just wondering if anyone else has noticed

the same thing?
