has always been mainstreamed as well for school work. Though I wish she

would get extra time for things since she isn't the quickest. I remember back

in 1st grade. She was the 24th out of 24 to be done at all times and it always

made the teacher mad. That was a long time a go even before we knew there was

an actual dx.

No actual experience but if it were my child I would probably stop the enzymes

and see if he still does it. If he stops then you know but if he continues it

may be just how he is feeling about something at school. How are his bowels?

Does he get irritable bowel symdrome? Is he stressed? Maybe he is under

pressure? Has anything upset him recently eg pet dying, friend moving away etc

Some kids feel differently at school then at home.

Then after a break of enzymes try them again and see if the same thing happens?

Ask him how he feels when he lies his head down at school. Things are changing

for us all the time.

My put his head on his desk when he was anxious.

Subject: Help

I have had my grandson (8) on Probiotics, Prime Zyme and Peptizyde for

about

two months. Built up slowly. I had to stop the Peptizye because of

constant purping. I received a call from his teacher telling me that at

first he was great, but as of late he has no focus in school and just puts

his head on the desk. He did not do this before the enzymes. I have

withdraw them for now. We will wait to see if his focus continues to

improve. Has anyone in the group experimented anything like this. Any

help

would be very appreciated.

First, did you continue the probiotic after you stopped the enzymes?

Probiotic can cause burping.

Also, check the enzymes you have. Do they contain papain/bromelain?

You might want to try the AFP Peptizyde and the SCD Zyme Prime, which

don't contain those ingredients. Some kids don't tolerate those.

It also might be that he needs No-Fenol, to address other issues that

are not addressed by the other two enzymes.

Try giving enzymes, they can help with better absorption of the

nutrients in the foods.

Also try increasing his fat intake.

Have you tried melatonin to help with sleep? We have used this with my daughter

for years and it has made a huge difference.

Our doctor is fine with its use. In fact, he says he likes the fact that it also

has antioxidant capabilities. We do use a product that has only melatonin in it

- no magnesium or B vitamins. Some of the less expensive brands also have

dextrose as a filler.

As I said we have used this for years and it really helped get my daughter's

sleep patterns straightened out. She is so much better when she gets adequate

sleep, so we will keep using it. Also, our doctor has said we can use valerian

root as well if we need it. I have used it from time to time with no problem.

HELP

Okay, I started giving my kids GSE last Saturday. Today is the last

day that I am going to give it so to hopefully avoid any bacteria

problems. Okay here is where we stand. For my son the humming has

stopped and all is good with him. But for my daughter, she is still

getting up at about 3AM and either she craws in bed with someone

(either me or my son) and goes back to sleep. This morning when my

husband got home from work, he found her up, watching TV and eating

marshmallows (she ate half a bag). I am almost certain that she had

yeast issues, but she was never tested. All I know is that if it

doesn't stop waking at 3AM, I am either going to turn the motion

detector on (and run the risk of waking the entire building when she

gets up) or get a door alarm from First Alert (found them at Walmert

yesterday 4 for $10).

As for the side effects of the GSE that she is experiencing, she is

coughing and having a runny nose. My son has an upset stomach and

sore throat for most of the week.

Any suggestions on what else to try before I ask the Psychatrist to

put her on something?

--I had several long battles with yeast with my daughter.

Diflucan worked once, and then didn't work the next time. There are

several different strains, and GSE may not work on the strain your

daughter has at this time. Of course, the marshmallows are really

going to give the yeast a boost for now. I finally tried a product

called Candex, and it is an enzyme product that eats the cell wall of

the yeast. So, in theory it should not matter what strain it is. I've

treated my daughter with it two different times now, and each time it

has cleared upi her yeast symptoms. She is sleeping through the night

now, and she went about a year waking up every night like your

daughter. Maybe it would help your daughter, and if not, there are no

side effects to worry about.--Tod

I might try the Candex, is that something I might be able to find at the local

healthfood store? If not I am thinking about trying Exzymeca's Candiase.

My local health food store has it, as well as my local Vitamin Shoppe.

The two products are very similar. Incidently, after reading the other

listmates response about Melatonin, my daughter always went to sleep

fine as well, but always woke up in the night.

GSE does not address all strains of yeast. Try oil of oregano or

garlic or uva ursi or caprylic acid or one of the other anti-yeast

remedies.

Here is what I did at first, before I figured out why my son woke up

in the middle of the night. Maybe you will find something here you

can use

For my kids, those were the only " die off " symptoms they had. Yeast

leaving thru the nose and throat.

Hi, sorry you are having a lot of trouble. You have to look for another

Doctor. They are out there. You just happened to find a Jerk's office, not a

Doctor's office.

Where do you live? I can't believe any place in this country would treat a

person the way they treated you.

I hope you live near me, then I could give you my Doctor's number, but that

is probably not possible. You probably live far from me. I live in New Jersey.

There is all kinds of insurance. Let me know where you live and I will help

you find some.

Sincerely, Colletti

I will also write you privately. You are in all of our prayers and many of

us are in the same position. I finally got Medicare after years of suffering

but I could not and still can't afford many of my meds. There is help for your

meds depending on your income.....

This is a great group however and you have come to the right place!

Peace to you and our prayers are with your son !

Welcome to the group.

I was saddened by your post, and wanted to let you know that I am

wishing you the best. There are many wonderful people who post here

Isn't our medical system frustrating? Can you call your insurance company,

or visit their web site, to find out if there is a rheumetologist that is in

your network? If there isn't a rheumy in your network, maybe you can call

the insurance company and appeal? If your insurance is through an employer,

maybe they have someone on staff who can help you with this? Good luck!

I agree- I would see if I could appeal the decision immediately. Check with your

local department of social services/public health. Michigan has a state

disability/medical program. Maybe your state does as well. Are you medicaid

eligible?

I'm sorry you were treated this way. Doctors usually let you know

before you make the appointment if your insurance isn't accepted

there. They really messed up. Contact your insurance company and let

them tell you who is a participating physician.

I hope you find a good one.

We use mineral oil for that. Is there an adjustment/purging phase? If

Rice Dream (can be very constipating) is RICE milk , however, it does

contain some gluten in it. We had to switch from that, it caused us

problems. We ordered Vance's Darifree. It comes powered, you just add

water, tastes great on cereal and you can bake & cook with it too.

I am not much help, everything I know, I have learned from here or

's book. I believe not sleeping is a phenol or yeast issue. Have

you went over all the things you are giving him now that he is on the

GFCF diet....there very well may be some offender in there you haven't

tied to it...JMO tho :)

Check what happens at preschool. Maybe he is eating foods there

without enzymes, or his teacher wears strong perfume, or something

similar, which is affecting his sleep.

Rice is constipating. Rice Dream rice milk substitute is also not gf.
