Dear Sunny,

It's a tough fight, isn't it, but it's probably best to choose one

treatment plan and stick with it. How many photoderm treatments does

your doctor think you need to stop and/or reduce the swelling? My guess

would be six. If you aren't having any negative side effects and you

have the cash, then go for it. I know of someone on this board who

completely eliminated her nose swelling with photoderm. You can also

try B5 to reduce the swelling, but check previous posts for dosages.

Others have reduced their nose swelling through healthy eating and

eliminating trigger foods. Another theory holds that antibiotics can

reduce nose swelling, but I have not personally experienced this.

Once you're done with photoderm, you might want to try accutane. Yes,

there are risks, but frankly, I can't think of anything scarier than

rhinophyma. Many people experience no hair loss. I am definitely going

to increase my dosage to 20mg in two weeks. I know of three people on

the board who have eliminated their nose swelling with accutane. One

member of the group did not get results until she focused on the higher

dosages; others have seen improvement with a little as 5mg per day.

I didn't care for Bermant's staff on the phone, but if you've

got the money, you might want to check him out.

You can continue to research plastic surgeons and laser surgeons during

your photoderm treatments.

Sunny, I'm sure your nose doesn't look as bad as you think it does. Are

there any days when it looks " near " normal to you? I know how hard this

is, especially being a woman who was had a very pretty nose. I feel

doubly cursed, but I also refuse to believe that it can't be controlled

and improved cosmetically. I have been in touch with the Mayo Clinic in

Rochester, and they were very emphatic that it could be significantly

improved with treatment. You might want to go out there as well.

Good luck to you and feel free to email me directly,

Heidi
