Guest guest
Hi Tamara, I am not Grandmom Bev, but wanna jump in here. The discussion about whether dairy products are healthy or not has flared up several times on Cystic-L and is discussed controversely in the general population too. In my opinion it (as many other things) depends on the patient. Some people virtually live on milk while others do fine without it. I am afraid you have to figure it out for your stepson. My daughter has lived on baby formula for almost five years and now that she has weaned herself off the bottle (YEAHH!!), she drinks a large glass of chocolate milk at least once a day. And she is as healthy as can be (DOUBLE YEAHH!!). All enzymes are slightly different. Sometimes those slight differences can have very positive/negative impact on the patient. Again it is a case of trial and error. Hi all, I'm back (you know you couldn't keep me away with your bitching about husbands, right) and have finally managed to read through hundreds of e-maiils that have piled up. I haven't had time to write an update, but will do so on the weekend. I found dozens of bouncing member accounts when I returned but don't know the reason for that. If some of you have been without mail for a while, I am sorry about that. Peace Torsten, dad of Fiona 5wcf and a nice tan > Hi there. Guest guest
Hi there, I would just be giving my opinion. I have listened to several seminars /discussions on this topic.....they generally state that medically it isn't supposed to cause problems. BUT-------------here is just from me---us-& our experience. Yes, it doesn't give you more flym, but, it does seem to allow it to stay around more & congest us. I don't have CF , my granddaughter does......& we both , as well as two others in family (with asthma / allergies.). It seems many will tell you they feel more congested after milk consumption--I do........I love milk & since I am not a pwcf, I drink it anyway.--actually I love with a passion ice cream too:):).I have had a few very knowledgeable person in the field who has said that, she too, knows folks do have problems , but all her " medical " data tells her that isn't the cause. Many call it an " old wives tale " , YET........not one of the rocket scientist can change that it does affect folks. I think as Torsten said , it really depends on the person......The enzymes I am told have no effect on whether milk/dairy will CAUSE problems.....They are very necessary to help retain & gain weight from food eaten.........Sorry, I am not more informative ..Your choice to ask the doctor is good. We all have various experiences with " MILK " .........best wishes to you & your precious family (sorry I didn't answer earlier-I have been out of town ) LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEV Re: Another question for Grandma Bev Torsten- Thanks for your input it is appreciated.
