Okay guys, I like this idea as well. Anyone know of a good NS in Nashville

TN? I am trying Gaines next week at Vanderbilt. If anyone knows

anything, please let me know.

Thanks again!

New to the group

Hello everyone. I am new to this group and have never been a part of an

online support group.

It's a bit out of my comfort zone. But a friend suggested it couldn't

hurt.

SO here goes.

I was told in July I had mono. But I never seemed to recover from it. I

was

sent to a rheumatologist who poked me in 12

places and said " you have Fibromyalgia, take all these meds and see me

in 6

months. I am also a recovering addict for over

7 years now, so this was not a route I wanted to take. I went back to my

PCP

and asked to keep looking.

Finally I was sent to a neurologist (I think to shut me up). He agreed I

had

Fibro and just to rule out MS he did an MRI.

He also scheduled a nerve study for my arms to rule out carpel tunnel

because I was complaining of the going numb and

tingling on a regular basis.

He did the study and found no C/T, but the MRI showed the Chiari. It is

only

a 1 and it is at 8mm so no big deal....I think.

He said just go home and come back in 3 months unless I start having

black

outs or seizures.

I go on the 31st for a second opinion just in case. I am just not sure

if

mine is " serious enough " to look at.

I have had pain in my joints and muscles, I have back pain, numbness in

my

arms mostly, and sometimes my calves.

I have headaches (not always bad), I have had a small amount of trouble

swallowing recently. And the most recent thing

has been then seeing things out of my left eye (light flashes even

though

it's dark) and the face freeze I had this week again on the left

side of my face. This all sounds minor compared to what I have already

read

and to Chip's Chiari page. I think I am just wondering how any of you

determined okay, now it's serious enough.

Mostly I just want to know now what?

Thanks-

There must be links in the home page to this question.

What else do you plan to do besides diet, and what have family members

done for it? (Feel free not to answer if I'm being too nosy ;-)

Welcome Libby, and welcome to the Grammas (I think I missed saying

that.)

I'm Tina , one of 2 Tina's on the list.

I have 3 kids too. My oldest daughter is mentally handicapped and

autistic, my middle daughter is NT (neurologically typical) and my

youngest? I find out what the neuro-psych thinks on Friday. He also

had a seizure disorder from birth to 5 yrs. old. He's been off the

seizure meds for almost a year now and while we're seeing some

questionable activity it's not enough to put him back on the meds.

Welcome to the group. It's very active and I have a hard time keeping

up so you'll only see me every now and then. Hope all our new members

love it here and I apologize if I've missed welcoming anyone in the

past few days. I'm sure all of you understand about life being hectic

at times though. ;o)

New to the group

Hello everyone,

I have 3 boys 8, 7, and 5 1/2. My oldest is " typical " my middle is

ADHD, and my youngest is PDD-NOS with a mild sezuire disorder.

My dh and I both work full time, and he is attempting to go to night

school. We are tired all the time, and is hard playing pass the kids

and juggling all the schedules. I am fortunate to have my two younger

boys in a private school for kids with ASD along with their typical

peers. They are doing well there. I am worried about my 7 year old.

He is struggling with reading and it is frustrating to see him try so

hard. My youngest son is doing good. He is verbal, but no

conversation yet. He is starting to answer small questions and can

ask for things he wants. He is finally potty trained during the day,

but latley he has been having accidents. I am hoping he is just

intersted in what he is doing and forgets. It never happens in the

house- always ouside.

Anyway..I ramble, sorry. :)

Life is hard sometimes and beautiful others .

I look forward to getting to know you all, and hear about your lives

and experiances.

Take care,

Libby

Hi Libby!

Welcome to the family! I have who is 13, HFA and who is 9 1/2

and aspergers. Both are in public schools, primarily general ed with

supports and aides. Some of the help came easy, some I had to really fight

for. Math concepts seem to be the hardest for my two, and reading

comprehension is also a problem for .

Hi , and thank you for your kind words.

I live in central Ohio. My kids go to a school here that is for kids

with ASD. The classes, are for the most part, half ASD and half

typical. The school is naturalistic ABA. We also have a home program

that goes along with it. I love the school, for the most part. Lol We

still have our problems, and we are lacking a few things here and

there, but it has only been open for a few years.

I am intersted to know how your son's diagnoses comes out. I imagine

it must be hard having a new baby, and a small child..( I've been

there), but I know there are extra challenges when ou child has an

ASD.

Take care,

Libby

Ohio, huh. My brother is a prosecuting attourney in the Springfield area,

if you know where that is. He specializes in domestic abuse, so if dh ever

gives ya any trouble, lemme know : ) (just kidding, really).

Your school sounds wonderful. You are so lucky. As you may have gathered

from my recent posts, I am just now getting educated myself on schooling

options. If that means relocating to another area, well, I'm open to that.

I guess being an American, it seems strange to me that there are no

facilities (or very very few) catering to the special needs niche and

competing for our business.

I will certainly keep you all posted on n's dx if we ever get in to see

the specialist.
