Guest guest
My 5 year old (Mattie) has this very bad sneaky streak in him and he likes to get into stuff that doesn't belong to him. Today it was a plastic pencil box that I keep some of my scrapbooking supplies in. He got my exacto knife and decided to cut a coupon off the back of the cereal box. The knife slipped and he was bleeding. A lot of bleeding. Four hours and 13 stitches later he is doing ok. There was something in there that the ER Dr.'s weren't sure if it was a bit of muscle or if he nicked the tendon sheath (it was a deep cut) so we have to go see a hand surgeon at the end of the week. If you can just say a little prayer for him that everything is ok. I wish he didn't chose to learn his lessons the hard way, but I don't want him to require surgery or have permanent damage either. I have to tell you, he was the bravest little boy! He cried when they put a numbing gel on it and flinched when they put the lidocaine in, but no one had to hold his arm down nor did they have to sedate him. The nurses, etc. who came through the room were very surprised at the Dr.'s decision but after viewing his reaction, etc. agreed that he was holding still and being a great patient. Now lets hope he remembers this lesson (and stays out of stuff that isn't his!) , one emotionally and physically tired mama tonight!
