Welcome to the group, Ziva! I am Heidi, mom to Cal, 7 (anaphylaxis to

antiobiotics) and Jake, 4.5, celiac, allergic to dairy, pollen.

Hemophelia has always scared the heck out of me - I remember watching a

movie about the Czar of Russia and his hemophiliac son. How do you cope

with this? I send many many well wishes and congratulations your way,

because you must be a very dedicated mom.

Brittany, you are amazing, too. I can't imagine dealing with all of

that - of course, moms will do anything for their children, huh? My mom

just quit her job, and the woman who replaced her had a baby with down

syndrome, and she " couldn't deal with him " , so she LEFT him and her

husband when her boy was two. Well, he's now 19, still with his dad, and

she has nothing to do with him. Is that one of the SICKEST things

you've ever heard? UGH!!!

Anyway, back to allergies (sorry for the rant). Allergies are tough,

esp. when they are life-threatening. My Cal had an anaphylactic

reaction to Zithromax last month, and I am anxiously awaiting his Jan.

22 appt. with the allergist so we can get an Epi-pen.

Alyssa, just wanted to mention, there's always something new out there,

considering that Cal's anaphylactic reaction came almost a full day

after taking his last dose of Zithromax. Now, as most of you probably

know, Zithromax is a 5-day, once a day antiobiotic, for the simple

reason that it stays in the system a long time. Well, with the other two

antiobiotic allergic reactions he had (Vantin and Amoxycillin), the

reactions came late into the dosing (like maybe 5-7 days). So, he

actually had an anaphylactic reaction almost 24 hours after ingesting

the offender. I wonder how commonplace this is (I know it's not

typically thought to happen this way).

, I hope your shoulder is better soon. My shoulder has actually

been a mess, too, so I can relate. Of course, mine happened for the

strangest reason, but I'll type that one up another day.

I hope everyone is doing great - I miss talking to you guys! I'll try

to check in more, I have just been so incredibly busy!

I am just so anxious to hear from Tricia, too - I've been waiting with

crossed fingers and held breath!

Love,

Heidi, mom to Cal, 7, anaphylaxis to antiobiotics, and Jake, 4.5,

celiac, allergic to dairy, pollen
