Guest guest
Hi all, I have an unusual question to ask. I have had a polyp in my colon for 7 years, long before diabetes. I have it checked every couple of years and DR says leave it alone. While Mom was so ill and they were doing all the tests on her, a colonoscopy was one of the tests. The DR who did it was very friendly, and invited me in to watch. While there, I asked him if he ever left polyps, and just rechecked later. He said no, he removed them when he saw them. As it turns out, both my grandmothers died of colon cancer. I told him this, and told him that my DR knew this and he simply could not figure out why it was left. So, O made an appt with my DR (who wanted it out, the DR said " take it our yourself " to her) she referred me to another DR and the whole thing is to be done on the 17th. So, question is, has anyone been through this as a diabetic? How did you tolerate a two day period of clear liquids? Does your BG bottom out? Is this kind of " surgery " enough of a deal to require insulin? Never used it, but as of late, my metformin is making my heart pound about 20 - 40 minutes after I take 500 mg's. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow, but she is also the one who sent me over to get my knee filled with steroids, too, so I have a certain distrust..... Thanks, if anyone has a thought I would appreciate hearing. Hugs and thanks, Marilyn
