Guest guest
> What are some educational sites this > group would recommend? Budd, if you mean " educational " about the self-management of diabetes then I would recommend the following site for a start: http://www.fda.gov/diabetes/index.html If you follow up all the links and absorb everything, you will have something to do for quite some time. And you can believe what they say because if the time comes when we cannot trust the FDA then we are all lost! If you want to read an MD's opinion about diabetes education, try: http://www.mercola.com/2003/may/31/diabetes_literacy_board.htm and follow his links, too. But if you meant education about the disease diabetes itself then that is not so easy. For that you would need some previous background in medicine, cell biology, pharmaceutics, physiology, biochemistry and even clinical research because the subject is still being actively researched. There is very little in between the basic information on what to do as a patient for the purpose of self-management and the stuff you would need for a post-graduate course for the simple reason that there is no market for it and nobody is willing to write it for the sheer fun of it! I wish you success at finding a new physician!
