Hi, Cheryl!

I have found a good way to lose

weight and it works guaranteed if

you start with the right

conditions. Everything depends on

your starting weight and how much

time and energy you can put into

achieving your aim. It scarcely

costs a cent, in fact you can

even save money!

First, you do not HAVE to lose

30lbs! Forget the 30lbs! It has

been clinically demonstrated that

ANY weight loss brings a long-term

health improvement. Successful

weight loss is defined medically

as when, after 4 (US) years of

slimming, your weight is still

more than 5% less than it was when

you started to slim (5 years in

Europe).

If you have been gaining weight

over the last six months or so and

your weight is more or less stable

now then by reducing your total

average energy intake by about

200 kcal/day, you can lose about

5% of your maximum weight before

your metabolism starts to adapt to

the changed circumstances.

If you continue with that reduced

energy intake for another 2-3

months in which your weight remains

more or less constant then from

then on you should be able to lose

another 10% of your maximum weight

over the following six months or so

without adversely affecting your

general health.

No further safe reduction will

be possible after that. In fact,

you will eventually lose interest

in body weight and you will

gradually put on weight again.

Some medical sources argue that

it is better to try to hold the

initial 5% by calorie reduction

than to go down the additional

10% and subsequently regain it.

This appears to be the destiny of

us heavyweights. We have to accept

that it is going to be a switchback

ride up and down for the rest of

our days in cycles lasting about

4-5 years each.

I am on my second trip down! The

trick is to make the maximum

that you reach each time less

and less.

My first maximum was 98.6 kg

(217 lb) in 1999 and my second

maximum was 91.6 kg (201 lbs) in

2004. That is a reduction of 7 kg

(15 lbs) or 7% of my initial

weight over about 5 years and my

physician considers that to be

a total success.

Forget the 30 lbs!

If you need any more information,

please let me know.
